Issues We're Watching for You

At Chequamegon Communications, we are always concerned with the ongoing support of Universal Service Fund (USF) resources. Without USF, we could not have built the advanced network we have today, and without it the dream of equal broadband access for all rural customers cannot come true. We advocate for continued USF support of rural telecommunications development because we know that less densely populated areas deserve equal information access.

We are also keeping our eye on a bill that would allow telephone companies throughout the state to offer television services over their existing networks, through one statewide franchise agreement in Wisconsin as opposed to spending years and millions of dollars to secure franchise agreements in each community they hope to serve. This would make it easier for Chequamegon Communications to offer digital entertainment to all of our service area. We are in support of this legislation because it would provide greater choice for our customers, and we believe that is essential.
