Chequamegon Communications has been part of the community for as long as we’ve been in business. We are a local telephone cooperative, started by local pioneers decades ago. CheqTel is our local telephone company in Hayward.

We are committed to serving our customers in a way that is friendly, down-to-earth and accessible. Chequamegon Communications and CheqTel each have a local office, where folks can stop by, ask questions and even see demos of the latest technology at work so they can make informed decisions about their service. Local offices are staffed by local people, whom most customers know on a first-name basis.

Why do so many of our customers know our employees by name? It’s because our employees go to church, school and the grocery store at the same places as our customers. They understand the people they work with, because they live in the same community and share common experiences.

Being centered in the community also allows us to have a better response time. You’ll never have to talk to someone at an out-of-state call center just to have a technician dispatched. You can call down the street, and someone will come out the same day, if not in minutes. By choosing Chequamegon Communcations/CheqTel, you’re choosing to keep your money here in the community, where it belongs.

We are always looking for new ways to give back to our community. Our partnership with the American Cancer Society has already raised over $5,000 this year.
