Chequamegon Communications Launches New Policies to Protect Customer Privacy
The Federal Communications Commission has implemented new rules to protect the privacy of information contained in your telephone account. Effective December 8, 2007, we are not allowed to discuss some account information like details of your calls and services (known as Customer Proprietary Network Information – CPNI) with anyone but the person listed on the account. We also must be able to verify that the person accessing your account information is in fact you, so we have sent out a letter to all customers with their initial password to be used for verification purposes when accessing some account information from us. If you wish to change your password, please contact our business office.
If you rely on someone else to discuss your account with us, assist you with payments and/or billing issues, you should have that person’s name added to
your account as an Authorized Account Representative.
Chequamegon Communications knows the importance of personal privacy to our
member/customers. Therefore, we keep all account information (CPNI) strictly confidential to the fullest extent possible and use industry-accepted technology to
safeguard customer data. Your information is never released to outside companies. You have the right, and we have the duty under federal law, to protect the confidentiality of this type of information.
No action on your part is necessary unless you wish to restrict Chequamegon
Communications’ use of this type of information to contact you for the purpose
of tailoring our service offerings to your individual needs or you wish to change
your password. Should you wish to restrict use of your CPNI, please contact our business office. Restricting CPNI may make you ineligible to receive information
from Chequamegon Communications about new products and services, bundled services, or other promotions.
Although we have always treated your account information with confidentiality,
please help us in our effort to further ensure that we protect this information.
