Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does joining the UEN save my school money?

A: By joining the UEN and its unique strategy for technology deployment in schools, your school will save money by adopting the centralization and standardization scheme the UEN uses. The UEN concept uses turn-key technology solutions that allow for the off-site management of your schools technology. By implementing a 3 to 5 year transition strategy to get to the fully deployed UEN infrastructure, your school is guaranteed to go from your current variable technology deployment and management costs to a fixed annual cost from Cheqtel. This annual fixed cost from Cheqtel is between $10,000 to $15,000 depending on the UEN Support Agreement you choose and assuming you have deployed the standard minimal CheqWAY hardware.

Q: What is the “Centralization and Standardization Scheme” that Cheqtel uses?

A: Cheqtel has proven that by centralizing your technology infrastructure your infrastructure becomes significantly more stable, and much more manageable. With this centralization scheme, your entire infrastructure can be managed remotely with very little on-site assistance required to maintain your systems. Additionally, by standardizing your systems, and deploying the new virtual infrastructure technologies from Cheqtel, maintenance is as simple as placing a spare unit in place of a defective unit.

Q: How does “Centralization and Standardization” improve maintenance and management?

A: Cheqtel deploys the latest in Virtualization techniques that makes a centralized system possible. Our virtualization techniques are implemented on the servers as well as the workstations. Should there be any sort of hardware failure, we simply replace the hardware and boot a common image to restore your system. This is a plug-and-play method of hardware maintenance. Additionally, should there be a need for software maintenance all of this is done remotely by the Cheqtel technicians.  And since we are using common images we need to install the software changes only once and immediately all systems throughout the network are updated.

Q: Does this standardization detract from my student’s experiences while using computers in the classroom?

A: No, not at all. The standardized systems deployed are full-functioning Dell™ Smart-Client computers capable of all uses of any other computer. These systems are capable of performing full multimedia functions and interact with all types of devices such as digital cameras, scanners and external storage devices. Additionally Cheqtel deploys Thin-Client type devices in applications where full multimedia requirements are not required.
